Oil Soluble Blood Orange Flavoring
These Blood Orange Chocolate Truffles combine rich, velvety chocolate with the bright, citrusy notes of Blood Orange Flavoring for a gourmet dessert that tastes bakery-quality. Warm cream is infused with flavoring and poured over dark chocolate to create a smooth ganache. Once chilled, the ganache is rolled into bite-sized truffles and coated in cocoa powder or melted chocolate. This easy, no-bake recipe is perfect for gifting, holidays, or elevating any dessert table.
Ingredients
- 8 oz high-quality dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1–1.5 tsp Blood Orange Flavoring / Blood Orange Extract
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Cocoa powder, melted chocolate, or powdered sugar for coating
Directions
1. Prepare the Ganache
Place the finely chopped dark chocolate in a heat-safe bowl.
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream and butter over medium heat until steaming (do not boil).
Once hot, remove from heat and stir in Blood Orange Flavoring and vanilla extract.
2. Combine and Chill
Pour the warm cream mixture over the chopped chocolate.
Let it sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
Add a pinch of salt and mix.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour, or until firm enough to scoop.
3. Shape and Coat the Truffles
Scoop 1-tablespoon portions of the firm ganache and roll into balls between your palms.
Roll each truffle in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, or dip in melted chocolate for a rich shell.
Place finished truffles on a parchment-lined tray.
4. Serve or Store
Allow dipped truffles to set for 10–15 minutes.
Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
