Butterscotch Extract Water Soluble

This easy Butterscotch Sauce Recipe delivers a rich, buttery, caramel-like flavor using brown sugar, butter, cream, and high-quality Butterscotch Flavoring. The ingredients melt together quickly on the stovetop, creating a smooth, glossy sauce perfect for drizzling over ice cream, cakes, brownies, pancakes, and drinks. Once simmered, the sauce thickens into a silky consistency that becomes even more flavorful as it cools. This butterscotch sauce stores beautifully and reheats well, making it a must-have topping for home bakers and dessert lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2–1 tsp Butterscotch Flavoring (water-soluble or baking-safe)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Directions

    1. Melt the Butter and Sugar

    1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter completely.

    2. Add the brown sugar and whisk constantly until fully dissolved and bubbling.

    2. Add the Cream

    1. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while whisking to prevent separating.

    2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 4–5 minutes, whisking often, until slightly thickened.

    3. Add Flavoring and Finish

    1. Remove the saucepan from heat.

    2. Stir in Butterscotch Flavoring, salt, and vanilla extract (optional).

    3. Let the sauce cool for 10–15 minutes—it will thicken as it cools.

    4. Serve warm or store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator.
